Payment Security with Chirp

Payment safety, as well as Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is a concern for any business, especially those conducted online. Creators should rest assured knowing Chirp keeps Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and funding details completely safe. Here’s what you need to know.

What is PII?

Information such as a social security number, birth date or addresses. In the wrong hands, PII can be used for identity theft.

When setting up a Chirp account, creators will be asked to set up payment information in order to be paid out their revenue earnings. The information requested will include the creator's full name, address, phone number, bank account's routing and account numbers. This information is used via Tipalti, the third-party company that securely handles Chirp’s accounts payable automation. Tipalti approaches payment security through its API.

What is an API?

API stands for application programming interface, the procedures, protocols and technical controls that protect PII through security, regulatory and privacy standards. Tipalti's API compliance features automate payouts and support secure, auditable, and regulation-ready integrations.

Deleting Personal Information from Payment Section

Still unsure about having PII online through Chirp? Currently, a manual process is required. Creators wishing to delete personal information from Chirp’s payment section should submit a ticket so it can be removed by Chirp on the backend.
